ISPO Gold Winner 2018: Helly Hansen’s Paradise Heat Jacket
Turning up the heat at ISPO 2018, the Helly Hansen Paradise Heat Jacket has been honored with ISPO Gold in the Snowsports category of ISPO Award. What makes it stand out from the rest?
The Paradise Heat jacket is designed to live up to its name. A technologically advanced jacket developed and tested with professional skiers, the jacket leverages strategically placed heating to help female skiers stay warm in cold temperatures on the mountain. The jacket is part of the upcoming HOD collection, a seasonal collection in celebration of skiing.
At ISPO? You can check out the Paradise Heat Jacket at the Helly Hansen booth, number 206 in A1, and in the award exhibit in the central corridor of B1, booths B1.10 and B1.20.
The jacket features the NovaHeat® system – a heating technology that warms the muscles indirectly by heating the blood vessels and nerves close to the skin. These are mainly pulse points, like the neck and groin. Studies have shown that heating the neck area contributes to a better overall comfort. Better blood circulation can even help keep hands warm.
Heating is especially important during physically demanding activities. With the Swedish Ski Team, the athletes would be extremely active, and then, activity level would come to a full stop (in between runs, on the lifts, etc.). After moments of relative stillness, the skiers have to perform at extremely intense levels. NovaHeat® keeps muscles warm so that they’re ready to perform . . . no matter how long the lift ride is. The technology will also be leveraged in warm-up apparel in the most important winter events of the season.

Being an ISPO Gold Award Winner is further confirmation that our work with professionals is paying off. It was feedback from the Canadian National Ski Team that led to the development of the LifePocket™ and now the Swedes have kindled the development of NovaHeat®. “This shows us that our work with professionals really makes a difference and allows us to create innovative and desirable products. Working with world cup skiers really makes us push the boundaries and produce professional grade gear to enhance their performance. We are delighted to receive this prestigious award” said Category Managing Director for Ski, Philip Tavell.
The HOD Collection
The Paradise Heat Jacket’s unique design is a highlight from our new HOD Ski Collection. The HOD Ski Collection honors the Norse god of winter with expressive designs and innovative performance features for skiers with an advanced sense of style and abilities on snow. Developed with powerful insights drawn from ski professionals at premium resorts, HOD is a seasonal celebration with 13 styles for men and women that marry designs inspired by classic moto jackets and modern ski silhouettes. Each style is an exploration of fabrics from jacquard camos to waterproof breathable velour and wool that are paired with Helly Hansen’s most advanced technical features.
Tavell said that he expects the HOD Collection to incite strong opinions from people: “People will either love it or hate it, and that’s what I want. It should incite a real opinion, the pieces are not standard and they are anything but boring.”
