Gear of the Year Awarded by Ski Magazine

The Helly Hansen Elevation Shell Jacket and Elevate Shell Pant have been awarded the prestigious “Gear of the Year” Award for 2017, Ski Magazine revealed in their recent December issue.

The jacket boasts Helly Hansen’s unique Helly Tech® Professional 3L fabric with a new extra breathable membrane enabling an unparalleled breathability and protection whether on the resort or in the backcountry. Additional features include Helly Hansen’s H2Flow™ temperature regulation system, a Hi-Viz brim, large adjustable cuffs, removable powder skirt, and Recco® advanced rescue system.

The dynamic duo is completed with the Elevate Shell Pant, which contains many of the same supreme features as the Elevation Shell Jacket. Part of the ULLR collection, the Elevation Shell Jacket, and the Elevate Shell pant are professional grade products, designed and developed in cooperation with freeride skiers. Made for purpose and athlete driven, the advanced features of these award-winning designs will certainly satisfy the most demanding needs of winter enthusiasts.

“I’ve been riding this jacket the whole winter and I really like it. I like the cut and the length of it. The material is sturdy and durable; you could roll yourself in barbed wire. You have the Hi-Viz details so that on a bad weather day your friends can find you. The H2Flow™ temperature regulation system helps you regulate and dump heat and moisture out of the jacket and keep you dry, which is really important. Another great thing about this jacket is that it’s backpack friendly. It can sometimes be a hassle reaching into your pockets, but these pockets are placed so you can easily reach them,” says Freeride World Tour Winner, Reine Barkered.

Our most award-winning jacket ever
Ski Magazine’s 2017 “Gear of the Year” award is the seventh award this jacket has amassed. Other honors include Outdoor Retailer’s 2016 Best of Show, the 2016 RedDot award, 2016/2017 ISPO Award, Ski Magazine’s 2016/2017 Show Stopper, Producto Descatado, and the Fall Line 2016/2017 Clothing of the Year award.

“Sitting at the tippy-top of Helly’s freeride line, this kit was designed to be bulletproof – immune to any of the hazards that could take down lesser-made ski outerwear. The extreme durability is thanks to Helly Tech® Professional 3L fabric; breathability is at its max due to the combination of Helly’s extra breathable membrane and H2Flow™ temperature regulation system. And features such as no-stitch shoulders and sides for comfortable backpack wearing, a removable powder skirt, extra-large pockets for transceivers and skins, and articulated sleeves and knees bode well for all-day comfort and versatility no matter where your skis take you,” says Ski Magazine.
