We are proud to be a part of the Italian “Niceforyou Sailing Team”, skippered by Alberto Barovier, racing in the Extreme 40 Sailing Series.

The Extreme 40 class has recently become an important Circuit as a similar catamaran is being used for the next America’s Cup.

The Extreme Sailing Series is kicking off their 4th season in 2011 with increased focus on sport, show and entertainment. With short and exciting races close to shore these ultra-fast Extreme 40 foot (12-metre) catamarans, literally flying on one hull, reach speeds of over 74 km/h (40mph). Eleven international teams compete in a nine events circuits around the  world.

NICE, a successful company in the Home Automation industry, has decided to take part in the circuit from 2011 alongside a team of extremely high profile sailors, led by: Alberto Barovier, winner of the 2010 America’s Cup on board the trimaran BMW Oracle Racing. The team is 100% Italian and gathers some of the best sailors from Italy, who in all boast 19 participations in the America’s Cup, more than 20 world titles and a similar number of European and national titles.

Alberto Sonino (33), has sailed in various multihull classes and he won the Formula 18 World Championship. He has also taken part in Ocean races with 60 foot trimaran “Tim”.

Daniele De Luca (47), has been in two editions of the America’s Cup aboard the Italy in 1987 and Mascalzone Latino in 1997.

Cristian Griggio (40), participated in the America’s Cup three times, with Luna Rossa (2000-2003) and Mascalzone Latino (2007).

Simone De Mari (37), has taken part in four America’s Cup campaigns on board the Luna Rossa (2000, 2003 and 2007), and winning the AC in 2010 on the BMW Oracle Racing team.

Niceforyou Sailing Team will take part in the full Extreme 40 series in 2011: Oman, China, United States, Great Britain, Singapore, Istanbul in Turkey, Trapani in Italy, Nice in France and Almeria in Spain.

 

The team is wearing Helly Hansen technical apparel to enhance their performance in both warm and cold weather conditions: the Hydropower racing collection for sailing and our new Training collection for physical exercise on shore.
