Personal description

Tackling the world’s most hostile oceans is all in a day’s work for Hannah. As one of the sport's most dynamic, young protégées, Hannah's passion for offshore yacht racing has seen her competing in numerous races across the world, including the 2009 OSTAR (original single-handed trans-Atlantic race) where she finished 4th overall sailing a 33 foot Figaro class boat. She was not only the best woman in this race but also voted the public’s favorite skipper.

Hannah's adrenalin junkie personality means she thrives in tough conditions, and her best moments at sea are when she is careering down a wave, balancing on the edge of no return. Dealing with the solitude of being alone for weeks at a time though don't seem to affect the very sociable Hannah, who is generally kept busy doing the job of a 10-man crew on her own.

As if the physical and mental demands of single-handed sailing aren't enough, Hannah's determination to share the bare bones of this extreme sport with the world is shown through her filming, writing and photography. All of Hannah’s exploits can be seen on her website at www.hannah-white.com

Hannah’s next steps in the world of single-handed offshore sailing are even more exciting and will see her trying to make the demanding transition into the Open 60 circuit. These fast and extremely physically demanding boats are very different to the smaller boats Hannah is used to racing, but no doubt she will handle the pressure of the faster speeds, longer races and bigger budgets with the determination and commitment she has shown in her career to date.
