The Season of Snow is Here.
What are you waiting for?

It’s finally time. Get your gear and let’s go!

The brand new Skiing Collection from Helly Hansen features beautiful award winning design – many of which features our H2FLOW system. And this seasons skiing collection all features RECCO reflectors.

The revolutionary insulation concept that puts you in control of your temperature.

Outdoor temperatures can change quickly, and when you’re active, your body’s temperature can change even faster leaving you either too hot or too cold. H2FLOW from Helly Hansen is a groundbreaking insulation and ventilation system that allows you to perform your best under all conditions. The first element is the innovative use of negative space. We create holes and channels that fill with air. This captured air holds on to your body heat and provides an additional layer of insulation that helps you stay warm.

The second element focuses on ventilation. Open the zippers and the holes in the insulation become ventilation channels - leading cooling air through the jacket and around your body – and letting excess heat and moisture escape, so you cool down quickly, and effectively. The third element of H2FLOW is it’s high warmth to weight ratio. Since the concept is about negative space and the use of air as insulation, we use less material, which means the jacket is up to 30% lighter. The 2012 Skiing Collection features two constructions of H2Flow: Down Flow and Mesh Flow.

Down Flow

The Down Flow construction is built with premium goose down arranged in pods. The additional insulation offers a toasty warm skiing jacket for a comfortable experience resort skiing in the slopes and riding lifts. And with the ventilation elements of the H2FLOW construction you can make sure you’ll cool down when needed. The construction also comes in a version with Primaloft synthetic insulation in the pods.

Mesh Flow

Mesh Flow is arranged in rows along the back of the inside of the jacket, inspired by backpack constructions It works in the same way as Down Flow, but is more compact and streamlined to create space to lead moisture and heat up and away when you get warm and need to cool down.

RECCO AVALANCHE SAFETY SYSTEMS

Always ready

Helly Hansen features RECCO® technology in all jackets in the new 2012 Skiing Collection, which assists you to stay safer when you are skiing both on and off-piste. The RECCO® reflectors are sealed into the layer between the liner and the face fabric, so they’re not even visible.

The RECCO® Avalanche Rescue System is a two-part technology developed to increase your chances of being found and rescued in the event of an avalanche while you are skiing, mountaineering, or climbing.

It consists of two parts; one small reflector that is sown into your clothing, and detectors that are kept and operated by ski resorts or rescuers. The detectors send out a search signals that the reflectors can bounce back, giving your exact position, even when buried under snow.

RECCO® is never a replacement for good judgment so have respect for natures forces and arm yourself with professional training when skiing off-piste.

Aurelien Ducroz

2011 World Free Ride Champion

Aurelien Ducroz is the 2011 World Free Ride Champion, and is considered one of the world’s absolute best skiers. We have worked closely with him for several years to put our gear to the test like few test labs can and by that help us improve and develop our skiing collection.

This year, we thought it would be a great idea to take him up north, so he could properly experience the Scandinavian winter, and get to test the new Winter 2012 Skiing Collection in the surroundings, nature and elements it was inspired by.

So we spent some days with Aurelien in the amazing Alps of Lofoten in northern Norway and let him set off down the mountainside. You can see the result right here.

My last shot in Lofoten, we had been fighting with weather and snow conditions all week long to find the perfect place with perfect snow and light to get a shot with a nice turn and my track in the back!
Sailing in Lofoten, this trip was the first time i was able to combine my two passions, we were skiing during the day and as soon as we were down, we were sailing around Lofoten looking for our next day runs!
Pure morning magic, I’m putting the skins on with morning light at 6am getting ready for a long day.
My first jump with touring skis and bindings, a good test to get confident before charging more!
A wonderful bad weather day, we tried to take a picture using different colors (ice, snow rock) to get a little pop of contrast in the pictures!
Next to the fish dryer in Svolvær with a nice snowstorm
Our First day in Lofoten, we were going to a couloir that we had seen from the boat. When we got there we found this wonderful narrow couloir. 300 meters long 55 degrees steep and even the hike into it was amazing!
This is a wonderful couloir right over Henningsvær, which has never been skied before (according to our guide) so we decided to call it the couloir Duchaud. I was there with Sebastien Michaud and so Duchaud is a combination of Ducroz and Michaud.
While waiting for 3 hours for a moment of light I decided to build a nice kick off over that rock and as soon as the light came I had this nice backflip over the Sea. We had been waiting up until last day to find the right spot with the right snow and the right light to get that shot.
My last run in Lofoten, and we had the best light and the best snow we found over the week.
