Description
Helly Hansen Ekolab Collection Protects from Bad Weather While Protecting the Planet
Global warming means less winter play. In order to help preserve cold winters for future generations, Helly Hansen introduces its second season of Ekolab products, a collection of waterproof breathable jackets and pants, midlayers, sportswear and footwear that incorporates recycled and natural materials, environmentally conscious manufacturing processes and an intelligently executed distribution strategy that minimizes transportation and fuel consumption. Ideas from the Ekolab R&D project are then integrated throughout the line to minimize Helly Hansen’s and ultimately the outdoor apparel industry’s impact on the environment.
New for 2009, the men’s and women’s Ekolab North Marker Jacket and Pants offer exceptional weather protection in Helly Tech XP nylon fabrics with a 15,000mm waterproof breathable rating. Unique to the North Marker, the protective membrane is PU-based and eliminates the need for environmentally damaging PTFE typically used by other brands. The exterior DWR of the jacket and pant is finished with a significantly reduce fluorocarbon coating that further protects from driving snow and rain. Zippers, pulls and snaps are made with recycled materials. To reduce the amount of fuel required to produce and ship Ekolab products, all materials are sourced close to the manufacturing facility and none are shipped by air to the distribution centers around the world.
