Summer 12

Helly Hansen: A Very Good Year

Scandinavia is a land of snow, ice, rock, water and trees. Its people are extraordinarily tough, unfairly attractive and modern. Helly Hansen’s Norwegian ties are blatantly obvious in the brand’s Winter 2008 performance apparel and footwear collections. There’s no hiding it. The designs are markedly Helly Hansen with clean, progressive Scandinavian influences accented with subtle urban and aristocratic hits. Versatility is a priority in the line. A majority of the more technical products are designed to work well for a variety of winter pursuits and bridge nicely into the lifestyle realm. It’s a perfect balance that appeals to a broad range of winter enthusiasts and cold weather dwellers.

New & Notable 2008

Wintersports: Helly focused a maximum amount of energy and effort into creating its most progressive Women’s collection to date. The line was conceptualized, engineered, tested, critiqued and finalized exclusively by its women designers and pro riders, many who grew up in Norway’s frigid climes. The design team pulled from the closets of socialites and urban icons to create an abundant series of technical jackets, pants, down parkas, one pieces and soft shells offered in whites, golds, vibrant colours, prints and textured fabrics. The high society Silver Rush XP jacket with Flo2w System™ venting and the one-piece Women’s Survival Suit make a statement.

The Men’s feature-packed line embellishes traditional ski looks with modern prints, pin stripes, textured fabrics and urban details. Pro snowboarder Jussi Tarvainen worked in collaboration with Helly to create the Lumi Jacket and Pant for park and backcountry riding.

Outdoor: Helly Hansen has launched an all-new, expansive winter outdoor collection of technical jackets and pants, soft shells, insulators and down parkas. The flagship Odin Project, a complete apparel system for mountain professionals, grew with a new Odin PCM Soft Shell made with Schoeller® PCM technology and a premium Odin Down Parka insulated with 800 fill-power goose down.

Environmental: The 130yr old Norwegian performance apparel and footwear manufacturer wants to ensure long, cold snowy winters will continue for another 130 years and centuries beyond through sustainable design and manufacturing processes. Helly launched the Ekolab R&D project, lead by the Ekolab 3-layer jacket, in 2008 to try out new ideas and discover ways to address environmental sustainability.

This season, more than ever, Helly Hansen turned up the heat on its design direction to create an authentic, pleasingly different line that excels in performance, comfort and style. More information about key styles is included in the following press releases.
