Thomas Coville, skipper of maxi trimaran SODEBO, is stand-by on the west coast of Spain, waiting for a good weather window to set a new single-handed record between Cadiz and San Salvador (Bahamas), the so called Route of Discovery. Thomas sailed his boat down from La Trinité-sur-Mer (France) in harsh winter conditions putting his Helly Hansen outfit through the test. The Route of Discovery is almost 7200 km, or 4000 miles, and has a great deal of uncertainty weather wise with unstable winds and thunderstorms. Francis Joyon, is the current record holder and the time to beat is 9 days, 20 hours 32 minutes and 23 seconds for the passage (average speed of 17.91 knots).
