After five tough events at some of the best sailing venues in Italy, the Candida Sailing Team, sporting Helly Hansen gear, won the 2012 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series.
Strong winds and rough seas set the stage for the final event of the 2012 Audi Melges 20 Gold Cup at the Gulf of Napoli. Candida Sailing Team and Turnover, both supported by Helly Hansen, started the race by sharing the top position in the general ranking.
Having its ups and downs during the week, the Candida Sailing Team managed to conquer second place at the Gold Cup, with which it won the whole 2012 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series. Renato Vallivero’s Turnover, helmed by Marco Perazzo (Helly Hansen Europe's Watersport Technical Sales Manager), had some unexpected troubles during the race. As a result, with just 8 points behind Candida, it came second in the final 2012 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series ranking, after having been the leader during the whole season.
The Audi Melges 20 Gold Cup was the most important event of the season for Melges. It was organized by B-Plan Sports & Event in collaboration with Melges Europe, the International Class Audi Melges 20 Association and Circolo Canottieri Napoli.
Helly Hansen congratulates Candida Sailing Team and Turnover for their great achievements. We are looking forward to have a complete Helly Hansen podium in the next season for this exciting sailing class.
