The past week I traveled to Montafon, Austria for a photo shoot with photographer Martin Soderqvist and fellow athletes Reine Barkered and Martin Webrant. It was my first time in the Montafon region of Austria and it was a great time. On arrival we received two amazing days for shooting. Even though it had been some time since the area has received some new snow we still managed to find great untracked areas!

The first day the Martin's and I went out to get some work done while Reine prepared for a contest. The Eric Themel Freeride Festival was going on that weekend and Reine decided to take part. After an amazing morning on the Hochjoch section of Montafon we headed over to watch some of the contest. At the end of the day Reine put down a solid run and walked away with a second place finish!

Our second sunny day we explored some more of the area and headed over to Bella Nova. That is definitely a spot I want to come back to, but next time I'm bringing my skins. I saw a ton of places that looked like so much fun!  We ended that day back on Hochjoch and just in time to enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Day three turned into more of a down day for the crew. Martin Soderqvist and I decided it might be nice to take a few runs and explore a new area. That exploration was cut short after I found myself covered in mud at the bottom of a ditch. I think I found the one area of the entire Alps that was not buried in snow! Martin and I decided maybe it was best to call it a day.

The final day in Montafon for Reine and I turned out to be one of the best! We woke up that morning to a reported 20cms of new snow and when we got on the hill we found a lot more than that! I had my best turns of the season so far that day. I couldn't of asked for anything better than knee to thigh deep powder and a great group of friends.

I found sunny skies, fresh powder, bratwurst and spectacular views in Austria.  Now I find myself in Are, Sweden after a day of traveling from the Alps to Scandinavia. Here I'll be preparing for my next Freeride World Tour stop in Rodal, Norway the following week.
