Helly Hansen rider Auréline Ducroz second place at FWT event in Sochi (Russia) last weekend takes him to the second place in the Overall Ranking.

The fourth stage of Freeride World Tour came to a positive end for Helly Hansen team rider Aurélien Ducroz, who won a podium position. Due to the missing baggage conundrum of Day 1 where skiers competed in oversized rental boots and borrowed clothing, Day 1 results were nullified and Day 2's results are being used as the final results. With the lads back on their own equipment and competing in perfect conditions, the riders put on an outstanding show.

2009 Freeride World Champion and Helly Hansen team rider Aurélien Ducroz brought home second place with an untracked line despite starting in 28th position, a problem that he has been plagued with at pretty much every contest. Not only that, the Chamonix native and trans-Atlantic competitive sailor rode with a torn quadriceps against the doctor’s advice. The French beast is back.

”This was the hardest contest in my life! I tore my quadriceps muscle at the first competition day. It hurt really badly and the doctor advised me not to compete today. I was really stressed out last night and this morning as I did not know if I would be able to compete or not, and how I would be able to manage if I competed. But finally I decided to go for it. It hurt so much and I guess I skied with my head and not my legs today. I am totally drained mentally. The double (jump) I took was so hard for my leg, I don’t even know how I did it.”

Thanks to the second place in Sochi, Aurélien jumped up the overall ranking to second place, only a bunch of points behind event's winner and new leader Sameul Anthamatten. With only one competition before the final in Verbier and only the best four results counting for the final ranking, Aurélien has the real chance to put again his hands on the world title. Next stops are Fieberbrunn in Austria and Verbier in Switzerland.
