Helly Hansen, based in Oslo, Norway, today announced a three-year partnership agreement with world-renowned guiding company Mountain Madness to outfit the operation’s guides with technical apparel from head to toe beginning this season and extending through 2013.
Founded in Seattle in 1984 by famed mountaineer Scott Fischer, Mountain Madness, is one of the world’s most respected guide services with expeditions to the Seven Summits and other mountain adventures.
“Helly Hansen has more years of experience outfitting mountain professionals than anyone,” said Mark Gunlogson, Mountain Madness president “We are excited to keep our partnership thriving with Helly Hansen, which goes back to the days of Fisher. Our guides continue to spend an abundance of their lives in completely inhospitable places so apparel that protects and enables them to do their jobs is mandatory. We have already been testing the designs for months and are completely confident about going into the field with the gear.”
Helly Hansen created the first supple waterproof fabrics in 1877 and has been outfitting outdoor professionals ever since. The Mountain Madness uniforms are drawn from Helly’s professional-grade Odin Series of jackets, pants, insulators and base layers designed for long-term wear around rock, ice, snow and rain.
“Mountain Madness guides are the rock stars of the industry,” said Erik Burbank, Helly Hansen’s Chief Marketing Officer. “These guys are the real deal and play the dual roles of brand ambassadors and a resource for the design and testing of Helly products moving forward. There isn’t a more challenging proving ground for our gear than the environments that Mountain Madness guides experience on a regular basis.”
