world record no longer achievable

55 days into his attempt of being the fastest single handed sailor around the world Thomas unfortunately had  to admit Francis Joyon’s record of 57 days and 13 hours is no longer achievable. Coville has faced some extremely challenging wind conditions which for the past week forced him to make a detour to the west, which added miles to his last sprint home. He is currently positioned west of Canari Islands with 2300 nautical miles left to Brest.
